EMWLUA

Eastern Massachusetts Woman's Lacrosse Umpiring Association

ABOUT EMWLUA

Our Mission

Our philosophy, in addition to the statement in USL WDOC Umpire Manual, is to strive for the highest level of competency of all members through education (clinics, meetings, on-field scrimmages, etc.) and to elevate the levels of communication between and among umpires, players, coaches, parents and leagues / associations.

Membership in the EMWLUA is open to all officials for the sport of women's lacrosse.

US Lacrosse Mission Statement

Through responsive and effective leadership, US Lacrosse strives to provide programs and services to inspire participation while protecting the integrity of the game. We envision a future which offers people everywhere the opportunity to discover, learn, participate in, enjoy and ultimately embrace the shared passion of the lacrosse experience.

EMWLUA Objectives

  • Organizes and represents women's lacrosse umpires of Eastern Massachusetts,
  • Improves the quality and quantity of umpires in Eastern Massachusetts
  • Schedules qualified umpires for women's amateur intercollegiate, interscholastic, club and youth games when requested by participating institutions, and
  • Ensures the rights and responsibilities of members holding current U.S. Lacrosse ratings.

The recent overall explosion in participation in women's lacrosse and particularly the growth of high school and youth programs is wonderful, but has also created a dramatic need for more qualified officials. Unmet, this challenge threatens to side-track the growth of the women's game. Recruiting and retaining lacrosse officials is a tremendous task and a key objective of EMWLUA.
